CBA has already welcomed over 10,500 visitors in Poços de Caldas

Company is opening its doors to disseminate information about environmental education and sustainable mining For over 20 years, Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio - CBA’s Environmental Education Program (PEA) has been facilitating quality environmental education and creating a positive legacy for environmental conservation in its geographies. It aims to create content ambassadors to develop a sense of citizenship based on a balanced coexistence between humans and nature. One PEA initiatives provides people the opportunity to visit CBA to enhance the public's knowledge about sustainable mining, the environment, safety and rehabilitation of mined areas. The initiative is geared towards primary and high-school students, government agencies and participants in our social programs, among others. Since its inception, more than 10,500 people have visited the Poços de Caldas site. "The objective is to provide enriching education and awareness experiences for visitors, allowing them to practically experience topics related to the environment and sustainable mining," explains Alexis Dias de Souza, manager of CBA's mining operation in Poços de Caldas. During the visit, participants learn about the Company's activities, process sustainability, the stages of land rehabilitation after mining, socio-environmental issues, social projects and actions fostering individual and collective environmental respect and awareness. Field visits are also conducted where participants get to see the Beneficiation Plant, the ore yard and the loading area. Visits can be arranged for groups of approximately 30 people and last three and a half hours on average. This dedication has spanned decades. In Poços de Caldas (MG), where CBA has been operating for over 80 years, this endeavor is carried out through various projects that encompass environmental education, waste management and reclamation of mined areas. "Being sustainable means making good use of mineral resources and subsequently returning the mined area to nature and the community with the same or even better quality than before.
