An initiative carried out by CBA in partnership with Instituto Votorantim aimed to support public education in Muriaé and São Sebastião da Vargem Alegre   The Partnership for Education Program (PVE) concluded another year of activities in Muriaé and São Sebastião da Vargem Alegre, celebrating outstanding results. The initiative develops actions in partnership with Municipal Governments and Municipal Education Departments to provide support targeted to the specific needs of each municipality. The goal is to strengthen education in these municipalities and bring effective results to public schools.   PVE is promoted by Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) and Instituto Votorantim. In Muriaé, training cycles were conducted in both in-person and online formats, focusing on the process of recovering learning and adapting the municipality's Reference Curriculum. The 16 schools that participated in PVE in 2022 had the opportunity to exchange experiences and define the best path to achieve satisfactory levels of student learning upon the return of in-person classes.   According to Maria Cristina Navarro de Aquino Ribeiro, the Municipal Education Secretary in Muriaé, PVE is an ongoing partnership in the municipality that provides support for more effective education strategies. "The training proposed for educational management, school management and social mobilization fronts have enriched educational matters in technical terms and helped us better understand and diagnose the municipal education landscape.  We want to continue building an innovative network focused on student learning, with motivated and valued professionals," she emphasizes.   In São Sebastião da Vargem Alegre (SSVA), a Learning Recovery Plan was implemented, which included the restructuring of tutoring, home visits, and follow-up of absent students. Systematic literacy for elementary school students and innovation in teaching strategies were also carried out. Additionally, meetings were held with student groups to discuss the school council, career advice, technical courses and career areas. Alignment with a psychologist was done to plan group discussions with students about their future plans for 2023.   Aryane Manfron, a junior advisor at Oficina Municipal, highlights the positive results in SSVA. "Our evaluation of the program is highly positive, especially in terms of rethinking education, striving for excellence in the basics, the need for process improvement and adjustments to what has been done automatically.  It was also important to understand what can be done better, to plan, document and monitor," she points out.   For Christian Fonseca de Andrade, the manager of CBA’s mines in Zona da Mata Mineira, contributing to the sustainable development of communities surrounding operations through structural actions for the improvement of public education is a cornerstone of the company's social initiatives, always in partnership with Instituto Votorantim and specialized consultants. "PVE has become one of the most important tools in the region to strengthen public education, significantly transforming the quality of teaching and student learning," he emphasizes.   About PVE The Partnership for Education program is an initiative run by the Votorantim Institute and Votorantim portfolio companies to improve public education in the municipalities where Votorantim operates and in surrounding communities.
