Registration deadline for Empreende Mulher is June 12 An initiative by CBA - Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBAV3), in partnership with Instituto Votorantim and Instituto Meio, the Empreende Alumínio project is having a facelift. Named Empreende Mulher (Empowers Women), the program aims to increase the representation of women in entrepreneurship in the municipality of Alumínio, where the company's plant is located. Participation is open to women, so it is essential that registration be carried out by individuals who identify as women, who live in the city, and have an interest in starting a business or enhancing their existing one. Registrations are open until June 12.   "Entrepreneurship is a tool for economic, social and professional transformation, bringing about personal change in the lives of women, strengthening their sense of capability, autonomy, and independence," says Andressa Lamana, Director of HR, Sustainability, HSSE, and Communications at CBA. According to her, Empreende Mulher aligns with CBA's agenda for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, with the aim of expediting solutions of social impact/innovation to sustainably reduce inequalities through partnerships. "The affirmative program also opens doors to expand female representation and contribute to gender equity in the local job market," says Lamana. The focus of the female initiative is based on several findings. Half of Alumínio's population consists of women, with a high demand for employment opportunities. When a woman becomes an entrepreneur, she generates a cycle of prosperity within her community, family and among other women.   Furthermore, CBA's initiatives have a significant impact on the female audience. 86% of the total number of applicants to Empreende Alumínio in 2021/2022 were women. Of the 4 businesses supported with seed capital in 2022, 75% were led by women. CBA's training courses targeted at women received over 2,500 registrations in 2022.   Empreende Mulher will cover 8 topics through video classes. Women will also participate in collective in-person workshops and receive mentoring and individualized support. At the end of the program, participants can present their projects to a panel and be selected to receive seed capital (financial investment) from the company to invest in their businesses.   For this edition, registrations are also open to female entrepreneurs who participated in previous editions of the project and did not receive seed capital.
