The project is strategizing the protection and support of children and adolescents at risk of violence in the municipality. CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio has implemented a project protecting children and adolescents in the municipality, in partnership with Instituto Votorantim and the Municipal Government of Alumínio/SP. Named VIA Rede de Proteção (VIA Protection Network), the program aims to buttress the Protection Network and the Rights Advocacy System of Alumínio/SP, by capacitating local players to continue the work in the medium and long term.   Due to being a topic of great importance to society, on May 18, the National Day against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, the Social Protection Network will run a campaign in the municipality through various local initiatives, such as group discussions in schools, placement of banners and posters in strategic locations, and distribution of pamphlets, with the aim of raising awareness within society for this cause.   "Our objective is to raise awareness among society that this is a mission for everyone.  Supporting the development of an organized protection network with clearly-defined roles will allow us to carry out preventive work, ensuring that children and young victims of violence receive the necessary assistance promptly and that those responsible are referred to security and support agencies," comments Leandro Faria, General Sustainability Manager at CBA.   The VIA Social Protection Network is a social project run by Instituto Votorantim in partnership with CBA, developed by a multidisciplinary team that trains government officials and local protection agencies. The initiative began in February this year and will last for three years. In year one the project expects that approximately 6,734 people will be indirectly benefited (children, adolescents, and young individuals aged 0-19; family members of the social protection network, and network technicians).   About CBA Founded in 1955, Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio - CBA is a vertically integrated producer, from cradle to gate, including recycling.
